Our Team

Creating and maintaining 36 loving family homes for our children in 16 different communities in the broader Western Cape, requires a whole family of team members with diverse roles and a solid commitment. This Family Team is made up of the following groups:

Board of Trustees

Our Board of Trustees are a dedicated group of especially skilled volunteers who have been elected to this role and provide us with the necessary governance oversight. Their experience and expertise in different fields is an essential support to management in running of the organisation.

Founders

Our Founders: While Jane Payne and Pippa Shaper are no longer running the organisation, they still play significant supportive and ambassadorial roles for Home from Home

Office Team

Our Office staff team includes all the staff necessary to support the crucial role being played within our 36 families, i.e. Social Workers, Social Auxiliary Workers and an Educational specialist who play the crucial direct support for the families, providing supervision, guidance and emotional support. This team also includes Fundraising, Finance, Administrative, Operational and cleaning staff.

Foster Parents

Our Foster Parents and the Assistant Foster Mothers, are at the heart of our work and create the loving family home environments which afford our children that second chance at experiencing ‘family’. Here their role in establishing a sense of belonging for our children and teaching important family values, form the foundation on which healing, education and preparation for successful citizenship, is based.

Associates

Our Associates are community organisations and some individuals. Home from Home has developed a formal relationship with regards to supporting and running the homes in specific communities.

Affiliates

Our Affiliates are organisations like ourselves that run foster care homes, but have formally partnered with Home from Home in using our Model of Care and accessing some oversight and consultative services.

Supporters

Our Volunteers, Supporters and Funders: We have been very fortunate to have a number of very loyal and committed team members in this group, which makes all the work possible!
